1000042702Lifesavers in Mexico are called Salvavidas. The roll to the right is in my collection. There appears to be at least 10 individual flavors produced for Mexican retail.

This TikTok from Memorabilia Cafe (apparently, a retro museum, of sorts) is fascinating.

The TikTok host mentioned the following flavors:

  • Sabores Surtidos or Assorted Flavors (comparable to American 5-flavor rolls) - which he noted were available in full sizes and a smaller size. I have observed someone on Pinterest who indicated that these were her favorite in the '80s and '90s.
  • Veteados (Swirled), Caramelos Macizos. My sample is marked 1994.
    • SABORES (flavors): FRESA-VAINILLA (strawberry vanilla), NARANJA - VAINILLA (orange vanilla), CEREZA - PLÁTANO (cherry banana).
    • The production company an ingredients listed on the sample is
HECHO EN MÉXICO CIA DULCERA LADY BALTIMORE, S.A. LÁZARO CÁRDENAS, NO . 47 PUENTE DE VIGAS MEX. Reg. S.S.A. No. 108093 "A"

INGREDIENTES: AZÚCAR GLUCOSA, ÁCIDO CITRICO, SABORIZANTES Y COLORANTES ARTIFICIALES. DEX TROSA Y BIOXIDO DE TITANIO CONTENIDO NETO 22 4g (*) MARCA REGISTRADA

  • Mentol Eucalipto - This was the most exciting to me, because it was the first that I realized that a Mexican cough drop-like flavor had been made. Note that it has a very bright colorful label, which looks as if it may be newer. This is in contrast with the American Life Savers Cough Drops, which appeared to have been discontinued prior to the 1950s or 1960s. Additionally, the latter product only mentions menthol, not eucalyptus.

He also included a black and white TV advertisement of a bee/ mosquito filling up a Salvavidas roll with various flavors.

Another flavor is shown on another site

I am personally very interested in knowing if there are any other flavors that were produced in Mexico.
