Having lived in Jacksonville, FL, we've had multiple reasons to visit Savannah (and we have friends that live nearby). So when we moved to Richmond, we got used to staying in Savannah on our trips down to Florida...it's about as far as we can drive in one day. Like Jacksonville and Richmond, Savannah is a River City. As of today, each of these places still seems to be up and running.
In no certain priority order...you should try them all!
- Elizabeth's on 37th a) They taught me to love softshell crab; b) The first restaurant we went to where the chef came out to talk to the guests; c) we have their cookbook, if you don't make it there https://www.elizabethon37th.net/
- East River Street shops - Walk all of this, because the shops and restaurants are nice and there's the great view of the Savannah River.
- If the weather is nice, walk the Squares. It's hard to park, but if you can, you can walk a square then drive to the next one and walk it and so on. They have 22... You'll have to see how many you can see!!
- I like to go to the flagship store for Savannah Candy Kitchen, to watch them making everything. They have a lot of antique candy making machines. https://savannahcandy.com/collections/locations
- SCAD... Savannah College of Art and Design... Their museum, or simply walk around the campus. https://www.scadmoa.org/
- Gryphon for afternoon tea - a jewel of a tea room, run by SCAD https://www.scadgryphon.com/#accordion

- We've been to The Crown and Anchor in Pooler (NE of the city...you could stop there on the way in or on the way out, when coming from 95. That's where Barry started to want a dart board. But the British Pie Company has multiple restaurants. https://www.thebritishpiecompany.com/
- Take a free boat ride on SavannahBelle'sFerry to Hutchinson Island--whether you have something to do over there, or not. And if you time it with the sunset, you'll get attractive views of Talmadge Memorial Bridge, photographed below.
